Pontresina: the place to be for winter sports enthusiasts

Snow adventures for all ages

The Languard ski resort in Pontresina is one of Engadine’s “family classics”. Beginner-friendly practice slopes and the Snowli Kids Village provide a gentle and playful introduction to skiing. A bit further south, you’ll find the winter sports areas of Diavolezza and Lagalb, offering varied slopes for experienced skiers and snowboarders.

Plenty of winter sports services

To ensure that guests have everything they need, the resort provides numerous attractive services. At Pontresina ski school, experienced winter sports enthusiasts teach beginners how to ski.

If you don’t have your own equipment or want to test a specific brand, the local shops offer great rental services.

Your INTERSPORT Rent shops at the ski resort

Skiing with the whole family can become a costly endeavour, as younger children tend to outgrow their equipment quickly, requiring you to regularly buy new sizes of skis, boots and other products.

To reduce the financial burden, we recommended taking advantage of the great rental offers of INTERSPORT Rent. With this option, the equipment simply “grows” with your kids, and you don’t have to spend a fortune on new gear.

More about the ski resort

Whether you’re a family, freerider or avid ski tourer – in Pontresina, you can enjoy snow sports just the way you like them. The offers of Languard ski resort are specifically tailored to the interests of adults with children. For instance, the Snowli Kids Village with its magic carpets and pony lifts is a favourite with young skiers. Prices are family-friendly too, with winter sports enthusiasts up to the age of 15 using the slopes for free.

The ski resorts of Diavolezza and Lagalb cater to a more experienced crowd of skiers and snowboarders, with most of the slopes marked red and black, and altitude differences of up to 800 metres. For the ultimate challenge, look out for the “Minor” descent. With a gradient of 86 per cent, it is the steepest of all groomed slopes in the entire Grisons region.

ski resort for ski tourer & freerider

Ski tourers can look forward to top-notch routes where the ascent is rewarded with fantastic downhill rides through pristine powder. The resort boasts both easy and challenging routes.

The area also enjoys an excellent reputation among freeriders. For instance, the longest glacier descent in Switzerland is an absolute treat for powder heads. The ten-kilometre run is not groomed and provides the perfect challenge for backcountry enthusiasts looking to gain some glacier skiing experience.
