Our RENTertainers recommend
„Blochziehen“ is a special carnival custom in Fiss. According to tradition, it’s supposed to drive away evil spirits and the cold of winter. The name comes from the so-called „Bloch”, a 35-metre-long pine log, which gets pulled through the village by masked revellers.
The event is held every four years and usually attracts large crowds. It always begins with the words „Des is ja schaurig!" (“That’s quite scary!”) and then the Bloch is once again pulled through the village. The next “Blochziehen” in Fiss will happen in 2022 – better circle the date in your calendar!
